Dressology 101 Part 3
The lessons in dresses roll on this week with Taffeta and the Mermaid or Fit and Flare style dress.
Fabric Taffeta-This fabric is probably the heaviest fabric choice when it comes to formal dress. The firmness of the fabric allows for great structure to a dress or details like a bow or collar. Taffeta also tends to have bold color choices available. The one drawback to the fabric is that it wrinkles easily.
Mermaid or the less dramatic Fit and Flare The top of these dresses can be like sheath dresses, but they flare out below the knee, putting more emphasis on the curves above. The fit and flare starts higher at about mid-thigh and is more subtle. This dress style works best for slim but curvy or hourglass shaped brides. Curves need to be in proportion with this style and emphasis is on the hips so the style is not recommended for pear shaped and full figures.
