Ask Chaplain Royal

A Question for Chaplain Royal…

“Who should we invite to the rehearsal dinner?”

Those whom should be included on the guest list are: the bride and groom, all attendants (bridesmaids and groomsman) and their spouses or partners, the couple’s immediate families, and the officiant/minister and spouse.  If the budget and seating allows, a nice gesture is to include grandparents and out of town guests who have arrived early.

NOTE: Traditionally the rehearsal dinner is held after the ceremony rehearsal (which should take 30-40 minutes.)  Plan rehearsal time, travel time and dinner start time accordingly so that dinner isn’t be served at 9:00pm.  It is a possibility that you have the dinner first and then conduct the rehearsal.  Check with your officiant for their availability.
